Computer Teachers Needed
This is an announcement that we are currently recruiting teachers for “Boaz Project.” Currently we are looking to expand our computer education service to refugees and new immigrants that have come from overseas, and we are hoping to recruit a minimum of two or three new teachers.
About Boaz Project
Boaz Project is a community reach-out program launched in the fall of 2007 in Korean Church of Syracuse (KCS) that aims at providing computer training to local residents and refugees and in turn introducing Christianity. As of April 2007, the program has just completed its second semester, and the classes that were available had mostly been limited to the current members of KCS and a few refugees from North Korea. However, starting this summer, the church plans to open its door to the refugees from other countries as well. In bringing this reach-out program active, KCS has been working in close relation with a local community organization, InterFaith Works of Central New York, and hopes to integrate this project as part of their refugee resettlement program. Job Descriptions
We are currently seeking to recruit both Teachers and Teaching Assistants (TAs) to prepare for summer classes. As Teachers, you would be required to lead and instruct a class size of about 5 to 10 students. In each class, the TAs will be assisting the Lead Teacher by helping individual students while the Lead Teacher makes a presentation.
We already have our curriculum developed for the two levels of classes (see below). However, Teachers may be further required to modify and develop new curricula as they see fit in the future. In addition to these tasks, there may be other administrative tasks that we require you to handle as we expect our Teachers to be both instructors and managers.
Current Curriculum and Tentative Class Schedule
During summer, classes will start in early June and last about one month. The exact schedule has not been finalized but we anticipate having two classes each week. Following the summer, Fall Term will start in early September and go on for about two months as we expect to run one class a week. As we will be rotating teachers and TAs, you will not be required to come to every class although we encourage that you do.
The topics that you would be covering are as follows:
• Beginner's Level Class:
o Intro to Computers / Windows / Internet and Email / Improve typing
• Advanced Level Class:
o Office Suite / Advanced Internet and Email / Job Search / Resume Builder
Required Qualification
All that we require is that you have a big loving heart and a belief that God has a certain purpose in leading you to this. No special training in computer science or whatsoever is required. However, you do need to know the basics of the computers. Here, many of the students you will be required to teach have never had any experience with a computer and might not even know how to turn one on. So the required level of computer skills for this position is not at all high at least from a North American standard.
This is a great opportunity for those interested in teaching, and if you are looking for ways to “love thy neighbors” as God told us, this is one way to help the community and help spread the words of God to those in need.
Compensation
As a token of gratitude for your work, there will be a small remuneration paid to Teachers for the hours spent in instructing a class. Note that you should not expect this job to pay out a full salary as you would expect from a full time job.

현재 저희 전산실 강사 및 관련 staff들은 PCUSA 총회의 지원을 받기 위한 “Boaz Project” 를 준비하고 있습니다. 이를 위해 여름방학기간과 2008년 가을학기동안 같이 일해주실 강사님과 TA를 모집합니다.

시라큐스 한인교회 전산실은 2007년 가을 컴퓨터실습을 통한 지역사회 및 난민들의 복음화를 위해 시작된 사역입니다.
두학기 동안 교회 주민들과 난민을 위해 진행되어 왔으며 현재 여름방학 기간을 기점으로 세계 각 지역에서 온 난민들을 위한 프로그램을 준비하고 있습니다. 우리 교회의 전산교육을 통해 난민들이 복음을 접하고 하나님 안에서 잘 정착할 수 있도록 돕고 있으며 현재 난민들과의 교류를 위해 지역 사회 기관인 중부 뉴욕 지역 InterFaith 와 협력하고 있습니다.

무슨 일을 하게 되나요? (Job Descriptions)
여름 방학 기간 동안 난민들을 위한 전산교육을 도와주실 강사 및 TA를 모집합니다.
강사는 수업을 준비하고 가르치는 일을 하게 됩니다. 약 5명-10명의 학생들로 구성된 각 수업에는 TA들이 함께 보조를 하게 되며 강사가 강의를 하는 동안 TA들은 학생들을 1:1로 개별지도를 하게 됩니다.
현재 초급 및 중급반이 구성되어 있고 이에 맞춰진 교육과정이 마련되어 있지만 새롭게 구성되는 수강생의 수준과 요구에 맞춰 일부 수정이 필요할 수도 있습니다. 뿐만 아니라 전산교육에 관련된 일부 행정적인 일들을 함께 해 나가게 됩니다.
현 교육내용 및 강의 일정 (Current Curriculum and Tentative Class Schedule)
여름학기 강의는 6월 초에 시작되어 약 한달간 진행될 예정입니다. 아직 정확한 일정은 논의 중이며 일주일에 2번 강의가 있을 예정입니다. 가을학기에는 9월 초에 시작하여 일주일에 1번으로 약 2달간 진행될 예정입니다. 기본적으로 강사 및 TA를 전체 강의에 골고루 배정할 예정이기 때문에 매 수업마다 참석할 필요는 없지만 가능한한 여러분의 적극적인 지원과 참여를 권장합니다.
초급 및 중급 강의내용은 다음과 같습니다.
[초급] 컴퓨터의 이해 및 개요, 윈도우, 인터넷 및 이메일 사용법 1, 타이핑 익히기 등
[중급] MS 오피스 프로그램 사용, 인터넷 및 이메일 사용법 2, 직업 정보 검색, 이력서 작성하기 등
자격요건 (Required Qualification)
강사 및 TA를 위한 자격 조건은 이 일을 향하신 하나님의 뜻을 이해하고 이 일을 통해 여러분 한 사람 한 사람을 향한 하나님의 특별하신 목적을 깨닫고 하나님의 일에 기꺼이 동참하고자 하는 여러분의 마음만 있으면 됩니다. 또한 배우고자 하는 학생들을 향한 여러분의 사랑입니다. 물론 컴퓨터에 대한 기본적인 지식은 필요합니다. 대부분의 수강생들은 컴퓨터를 사용해 본 적이 없기 때문에 가장 기본적인 기술 (컴퓨터를 켜고 끄는 법, 키보드 및 마우스 사용법 등)부터 시작하게 됩니다. 따라서 컴퓨터에 대한 전문적인 지식이나 기술이 요구되지는 않습니다.
이 사역을 통해 가르치는 일에 관심이 있는 분들에게는 하나님께서 우리에게 명하신 이웃을 사랑하라는 그 말씀을 실천할 수 있는 귀한 기회가 될 것입니다. 또한 우리 주변의 많은 사람들에게 하나님의 복음을 전할 수 있는 귀한 기회입니다.
보수 (Compensation)
강사들께는 감사의 뜻으로 강의 시간에 따라 소정의 보수를 지급할 예정입니다만 이 사역이 보수를 받기 위한 정규직업과 같은 여건을 갖추고 있는 것은 아니기 때문에 이 점을 생각해주시기 바랍니다.
